THE DESCENDANTS OF MOSES THOMAS, SR & GEORGIA BUTLER...MARRIED DECEMBER 11, 1880 IN CLAIRBORNE PARISH, LOUISIANA

Pictures of our Family

Because of her maturity and wisdom, Anna Thomas Waller developed into the family matriarch. She lived in this 3-room house, where she raised her 5 children; she took in her brother Jessie's son, Velma, and assisted him until her relocated to Texas; after the death of her sister Mandy in 1933, she took in and raised her 5 children; she took in and raised her grandson, Lynn Curry. When 7 members of her brother, William Manning Thomas' family relocated to Magnolia, she took them in for nearly a year. She took in and raised her great-granddaughter, Carol Jean; and at the end of her mother, Georgia Butler Thomas' life, she took her in until her death. Other family member, as they left Louisiana, lived for a time at Anna Waller's house. She never owned the residence and she was a renter for nearly 50 years. Anna Thomas Waller's motto was: "If I can help somebody, then my living has not been in vain."

The Family of Nancy Thomas Brown

This picture was taken around 1915 or 1916 and is now approximately 95 years old. This is the oldest document that I have seen that we as family members have preserved ourselves. In the picture is Lee George Brown, her husband, born about 1856; her two sons, Philip, born in about 1912 and George, born about 1914; and Nancy, herself, born in 1887 and died in 1981. Nancy, her husband and Philip are buried in the West Cemetery in Magnolia, Arkansas, and George is buried in the 23rd Psalm Cemetery, also in Magnolia.
